The Cottage at Dunmore, 1860
History
Built circa 1860 from red gum milled from the property, The Cottage at Dunmore Farm is one of the oldest surviving homes in the Molyullah, near the gold rush towns of Glenrowan and Beechworth. Legend has it that a young Ned Kelly once passed through these same doors.
Today, after a considered restoration by custodians Bec and Angus Macdougall, Dunmore stands as a luxurious countryside retreat where time slows, history lingers and connection is restored.
An ornamental Manchurian pear tree-lined driveway, framed by lush paddocks and rolling hills welcomes you to the weatherboard cottage with its patinaed corrugated iron roof, wide verandah, and red brick chimneys shaded by stately trees. Inside, heritage and modernity find perfect balance through layered textures, natural fabrics and an intuitive blend of old and new. Each detail, from the vases of freshly gathered foliage to soft room lighting and original artworks, tells a story of slow living and quiet luxury.
