Registered with the National Trust, ‘Littlebourne’ dates to 1830 and is one of the oldest remaining homesteads in Central West NSW.

History

One of Australia’s earliest homesteads, Littlebourne was built in 1830 by Lieutenant Thomas Evernden, the commander of inland Australia between 1827-1837. Later home to important parliamentarians and mayors in the district, the homestead was expanded during the 1880s by the Webb family, and again in the 1930s by the Schutts family.

In 1995, The Warren family became Littlebourne’s custodians. They made improvements to the homestead over many years, then undertook a major refurbishment in 2022, preserving heritage features while adding a sympathetic extension for modern-day living, with a large entertainer’s kitchen and outdoor courtyard pavilion.

In 2025, Littlebourne opened its doors as an exceptional rural escape for individuals, couples and small groups wishing explore the charm of historic Bathurst and surrounds. Family owned and operated, Littlebourne is a truly boutique accommodation experience in a serene setting, surrounded by three acres of established gardens.

Steeped in history, Littlebourne also provides guests the opportunity to step back in time, with original early 19th century polished floorboards, exposed convict-built ceiling rafters and brickwork, ornate plasterwork and fireplace surrounds, soaring ceilings, leadlight windows, and a wide front verandah framed with cast iron lacework.
